This chapter begins with the following sentence: "It seems that the worries and wants of a young boy never cease."  What did Billy mean by this?  Do you agree or disagree with him?  Write about some "worries and wants" in your life.

At the end of chapter 7, Billy tells of his heart to heart talks with his dogs and their ability to understand him.  Do you think it is possible for people to communicate with animals?  How?  Do you have a pet that you like to talk to?

What role did Billy’s clothing and physical appearance play in the teasing he received in town?  Do you think people tend to judge others by their appearance?  Do you think this is right?
