Write a journal response about the fantasy you are reading.  What fantastic things have you encountered so far?  How does the author bridge the gap between fantasy and reality?

  1. i am reading twilight and so far i love it. but i am not at the part where anything is out of the ordinary yet. rite now bella is in the front office at her school geting a list of all of her classes. i like this book much better this year than i did last year. last year i only read up to the 2nd chapter becuase it was to slow but this year it seems much better. but i feel like i am too late to be reading it becuase all of my friends have already read it and i have seen both movies, this year my plan is to read twilight, new moon, and eclips before the next movie comes out.

  2. In Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Alice had fallen down large rabbit holes, grew or shrunk at least 42 times, and talked to many animals including mice, birds, crabs, and the Cheshire Cat. The author uses the hole she fell down as a bridge between reality and fantasy.

  3. In Eragon,Eragon tried to sell his precious stone that he had, but nobody took it. I know that now he'll have to keep the stone and the dragon will hatch. The author hasn't gone into the fantasy yet, but my prediction is that he'll start it with just a boy in the woods to a boy having adventures with a dragon.

  4. I am reading the fabulous book Blood Beast by Darren Shan. It starts out as normal by Grubbs in the bathroom. Then he thinks he is starting to become a werewolf. Also I love the part when Grubbs made a bottle rise up in mid air and spin when he kissed the girl he likes. Then he made the bottle break and turned the pieces to flowers.

  5. I am reading a series of unfortonate events the first one. The book starts out normal because the children are on the beach playing until Mr Poe their neighbor comes over. Mr Poe tells them very sad news that their parents died. The fantasy starts when the children have to go to their kind of close relative they don't even know to live with. His name is count Olaf he is a really mean guy. -Mia Hardesty

  6. I am reading D*GRAYman by Katsura Hashino. It is about a reaper (somebody who cleanses evil souls, AKUMA) named Allen Walker, in search of THE INNOCENCE, a mysterious god object that is used to cleanse all AKUMA immediatly after use. He is currently part of THE BLACK ORDER, a group of reapers that are of elite level. It is reality because it is set in 19TH century, England. It is fantasy because of reasons mentioned above ^^

  7. I am reading Pery Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. So far, Percy has gone to camp Half Blood(a camp for kids who are part god, part human) and his enemy defets a couple of bronze bulls. He is being convinced by the god,Hermes, to go on a quest without their STRICT leader's permission. the reality is that he is a kid in New York. The fantesy is that gods exist. The bridge is a car run by people who have one eye between all of them.

  9. I chose to start reading The Sea of Monsters, the sequel to The Lightning Thief. I was going to read and finish the last book of the series of unfortunate events instead but then I got a lot of recomendations to read Percy Jackson. Today I read about Percy getting new students at his prep school. This reminded me of when I was a new kid when I moved to D.C.The new students quickly became friends with Sloan, the bully of the prep school. In the end while everyone was plating a game of dodge ball. The new people grew taller and taller into horrible monsters. Believe it or not I thought Percy was going to die. Just like in many harry potter books, when Harry is close to death.

  10. Right now I'm reading Peter Pan. Wendy, Jhon, Micheal, and peter have reached Netherland. Yet the author is focussing on Hook right now. Hook and Smee just dicscocered the Lost Boys' (a group of forgotten children that get sent away to Netherland) undergroung home. Hook came up with the idea to leave a cake at mermaid lake, since the Lost Boys always go there to swim. Litte would they know that Hook poisoned that cake.
I made a text to world connection with the Lost Boys. Many orphans wish they could remember their parents.
the author bridges the gap by having Peter, Wendy, and Micheal capture Peter's shadow, then Peter came into the room by flying.
