In what ways has Opal's character changed since the beginning of this story? What has brought about these changes? What role has Winn Dixie played in these changes?
Opal was first sad and now she is happy. Winn-Dixie role was being nice and making Opal not sad. Things that brought about these changes was Gloria Dump helped Opa; make friends with the Dewberry boys.
Opal has changed so that now she dosen't judge a book by it's cover. Winn Dixie made this all all happen. Winn Dixie has brought Opal to be friends with many of the townsfolk. He brought excitement to Opal's town.
That is true, Crazyb. I didn't think of Gloria Dump assisting these changes. Perhaps Otis played a role in this subject, too. I think that because meeting Otis taught her to trust others in the present, not what they did in the past.
Opal is not judgemental anymore ,she does not call the Dewberry boys Bald headed babys and now look at all the friends she has at the end of the book. Just to think this was all Because of Winn-Dixie.;)
A couple little things can change a whole lot in a life. I found that today. Nobody say doesn't because it does. Think of a time where one little thing made you a whole different person.
Opal's character has changed because she used to judge people by the way they look but she didn't know what their characteristics are but now that she does she is really good friends with Amanda and the Dewberry brothers and Otis. She used to really think about her mom but in the story she said that now that her heart is filled she won't think about her as much. Winn Dixie was a catalyst because after she got Winn Dixie she made more friends and she was happier and changed her attitude.
Opal used to be miserable and lonely in the beginning of the book. She always judged people and thought about her mother more than her life! Then in the middle she started opening up to more people and not judging as much. Winn-Dixie just helped break the ice for that. In the end of the book she really opened up and even accepted the Dewberry boys and Amanda as friends.
Opal was kind of shy but then she was nice and kind to everyone. She judged people before she got to know them. At the end she started to make friends with them.
hi! just back from gymnastics! I think she changed by learning a little about her mom and how many mistakes gloria made. Winn- Dixxie intro duced Opal to gloria dump and gave Opal the strength and courage to ask the preacher 10 things about her mom.
Personally, I think she was scared. I think tis because she had just moved to a new place and she was afraid if she made friends they would irritate her, remind her of her old friend and how she had to leave them. It might have also made her want to be comforted by her mom. Now I think she is comfortable and lovig with others. I think that wind Dixie made her happy and made her open up inside. She was being a turtle just like her dad.
at first she ws very judgemental no doubts about it. then winn dixie came along and made opal nicer, less judgmental and made her many new friends making her forget that she had a long lost mom
Dear Mrs.Adams, I could connect to the feeling of eating a Littimus Lozenge because I have had a sad memory. It was when my dog ran away. It was late at night and we couldn’t see anything. We looked and looked and eventually we found him sitting next to a tree. I am pretty sure that is what Amanda Wilkinson felt when she ate the Littimus Lozenge. Sincerely, Alex Victory
At the begining of the story, Opal was judgemental but she changed. Sometimes I am judgemental like the time that I assumed my friend was lying to me. In the end I found out he was talking about another person. I learned that it is not good to ever judge a book by its cover. Sincerely, Alex Victory
